Each park is categorized into the following types:
- Neighborhood - serve residents within a mile of the park. They have an informal, casual atmosphere and may include amenities such as playground areas, tennis courts, etc.
- Community - serve community planning areas within a radius of 2 miles of park boundaries. They provide opportunities for passive and active recreation such as picnic pavilions, sports courts, swimming pools, recreation centers, ball diamonds, etc.
- Regional - are large natural open spaces or special theme parks that serve all of Salt Lake County.
- Undeveloped -
